History of the College
More than 90 years of technical education in Kyrgyzstan
The Polytechnic College of the International University of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by decision of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the Councils of People’s Commissars of the Kirghiz ASSR of 3 August 1930 (Minutes No. 57).
Over more than 90 years, the college has changed its name several times:
1930–1935 — Central Kirghiz Irrigation Technical School
1935–1944 — Central Hydro-Reclamation Technical School (merged with the Land Management Technical School in 1941)
1945–1947 — Frunze Agricultural Technical School
1948–1960 — Frunze Hydro-Reclamation Technical School
1960–1994 — Frunze Polytechnic Technical School
since 1994 — IUKR Polytechnic College, part of the International University of Kyrgyzstan (Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 305 of 11.05.1994, IUK Order No. 114 of 20.12.1994)
Over the years, new specialties were opened one after another — from electrical and telegraph communications to computer engineering. In 2012 a department of computer networks and programming was created, which in 2021 split into two independent departments — IT Technologies and Network Technologies.
The college’s founder is IUK. Since 19 June 2026, the director of IUKR PC has been Urmat Nazarkulovich Moldosanov.
The college building was constructed in 1954 to a design by architect E. Pisarsky and is part of the architectural ensemble of Bishkek’s former Soviet Square — one of the city’s most beautiful classical-style buildings, with moulded decoration based on Kyrgyz national ornament.
